Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups opened to ₹101.10Cr India net on its Wednesday release, taking the worldwide Day 1 gross to ₹140.75Cr against an ₹800Cr budget.

A nine-figure opening day on a Wednesday is a statement — the budget behind it is a bigger one.
Opening Day Snapshot
Day 1 India Net₹101.10Cr
India Gross₹120.75Cr
Overseas Gross₹20.00Cr
Worldwide Day 1₹140.75Cr
Budget₹800.00Cr

The number is unambiguous by itself: a ₹101.10Cr India net on a midweek release, without the usual Friday-weekend tailwind, is a genuinely rare scale of single-day collection for a Kannada film. Overseas added a further ₹20Cr on top, pushing the worldwide first-day gross past ₹140Cr.

What's still entirely open is the run. At an ₹800Cr budget, this is one of the most expensive films Kannada cinema has attempted, and even a ₹140.75Cr worldwide Day 1 covers roughly a sixth of that figure. To reach HIT territory (1.75x) from here, the film needs close to ₹1,400Cr in India net over its full run — a bar very few Indian films in any language have cleared. That is not a knock on today's number, which is genuinely massive for its category; it is simply the scale of the budget the film now has to answer for, starting this weekend.

Releasing on a Wednesday also means the real trajectory read doesn't arrive until Friday and Saturday, when the film faces its first weekend audience rather than premiere-day curiosity and opening-day fans.

The real test: A ₹101Cr opening day is a genuinely massive start by any measure — but an ₹800Cr budget means the first weekend, not Wednesday's number, decides whether this becomes a defining hit or the industry's most expensive cautionary tale.
